I certified as an NVQ Level 3 Equipment and Mat Pilates Instructor in 2010. I embarked on this path when practitioners at Pilates International Ltd, treating me for a sprained ankle and lower back pain, saw that I had an aptitude for the discipline.
They encouraged me to follow this new path and, inspired by their words and the positive impact the method had on my body, I trained part time for the studio’s certification programme. This was a three year commitment which I undertook while also studying for a performing arts degree.
During my training I have trained and worked with many clients under the supervision of highly experienced teachers, including Alvin Quek of Pilates Clinique Ltd. In addition to my Pilates Comprehensive Teacher certification, I have studied Pilates and Pregnancy with one of the top exponents in the field, Carolyne Anthony of The Centre of Women's Fitness. I am now a certified Pre and Post-Natal Pilates Specialist and of which program includes Pelvic Floor Health and Dysfunction as well as recovery exercises for Diastasis Recti.
I have found teaching Pilates to be a very creative, kind and giving profession. Throughout my career I have had the opportunity to work with a variety of clients ranging from clients wishing to enhance specific sports related endeavours, clients with abundant bodies, clients with lower back pain and the senior population. I appreciate each client as an individual and I adapt the Pilates Method to meet the needs of each client, while allowing them the time to experience the joy of movement while engaging in a safe, effective, and challenging Pilates practice.
